What are the Healing Tools?

The healing tools are how you clean up your images in Photoshop. There are five different tools we are going to cover- the spot healing tool, the healing brush tool, the patch tool, the clone Stamp, and the content aware tool.

Each tool has it’s own strengths and weakness, but as a combined team, they can remove 99% of unwanted objects in Photoshop.

In terms of workflow, they are the first thing you should do once you import your image to Photoshop after doing your preliminary edits in Lightroom.

Practical Uses of the Healing Tools

  • Removing sensor dust spots

  • Removing people, objects, or textures from your image

  • Adding textures, lines, or surfaces over “removed” spaces
